Welcome to FRIDA
The Foundation for Research Into Diseases of Aging (FRIDA) was created because of the excitement generated by a series of discoveries in which an infectious agent was identified that may be responsible for a variety of illnesses that typically affect the elderly. The infectious agent is Chlamydia pneumoniae. Chronic diseases now associated with C. pneumoniae include:
- Atherosclerosis and stroke
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Bronchitis
- Cardiovascular disease
- Cerebrovascular disease
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
- Cutaneous T-cell lymphomas
- Multiple sclerosis
- Reactive arthritis
- Sarcoidosis
FRIDA was formed because we believe that we are morally compelled to support research and education that could identify new, more effective treatment options for the millions of people who suffer from disorders related to aging.
